In Africa, the bush means the wilderness. For the past two nights, I was truly roughing it. Charging batteries? Showers? I don’t think so. Out there, the only creature comfort we had was fire. Our polers brought us to our site with their Mocoro’s (African dugout canoes). With an efficient assembly line, we unloaded supplies and equipment for our two nights in just minutes. We passed tents, pots, food and water person to person up the line until each item reached the camp, just up the beach.  Setting up only the bare necessities that we brought did not take long. We were so preoccupied with unloading and setup, we failed to notice the enormous male Elephant grazing mere metres from our camp site.  As our expedition leader said, “Only in Africa!”
