Disclaimer: This has nothing to do with photography or Travel. This was just a great experience. For the most part, the people of Africa have been very friendly and warm. There were a few moments in touristy areas that have been a little bit of a battle. How many times must I tell this man that I do not want to buy a Tanzanian rugby team jersey? As I checked into base camp for my big climb tomorrow, the people here seemed to be more than friendly. You could tell that they absolutely love their job. They are going above and beyond their job to make you feel welcome and happy. The pinnacle was tonight at dinner. As I went up to the buffet for my dessert, the chef behind the table greeted me as I went to take a scoop of the cake. The spoon slipped and I cut a much larger piece than I wanted and I make a remark that I was sorry. His response was so simple, but it moved me to run to my laptop and write this entry. In a thick Tanzanian accent he said with a huge smile, “Don’t worry, be free my brother.” Such a simple statement for him, but yet such a moving one for me.
