The Taj Mahal is one of the most recognizable structures on earth and I have always wanted to visit it. I knew it was an amazing place, but you can’t understand the beauty of it until you stand at the end of the reflecting pool and see it with your own eyes. The Taj Mahal is actually a mausoleum built by Shah Jahan for his third wife. After her death, he became so grief stricken that he built this magnificent structure to house her body. Now that”s love! The design of the structure is unbelievable. The centre line of the reflecting pools are perfectly aligned with the structure. That same centre line is the centre line of the tomb where her body was laid to rest. Looking at the structure up close, you will see that the entire building is covered in semi precious stones, inlayed in the pure white marble. It took 22 years and over 20,000 workers and artisans to complete. Its not a surprise that is one of the Wonders of the World. Ok, the history lesson is done… Enjoy the images! SIDE NOTE: For anyone who has been to the end of the reflecting pool, you know how hard it is to get an image like the first one below. That was a lot of work!
