After three years of shooting weddings and engagements for Boston Avenue, I hold a very distinct record among all the photographers at the studio. It has never rained on me a single time during formal photography.  I just thought it was an amazing coincidence until this past Friday. For those of you who live in Toronto, Friday was a very typical Toronto rain day. The humidity was building up to a critical level over the past week and we were waiting for about three straight days of hard rain. It finally came on Thursday night. I was shooting a wedding Friday at the Miller Lash House and the forecast was calling for 100% chance of precipitation. I was convinced that my 60+ wedding streak was coming to an end.  It was pouring rain as I drove from my place to the studio where I picked up the second photographer. As I pulled the handbrake in front of the Le Germain Hotel (our first location), it was like someone had just switched the rain off. I sat in my car in awe for a minute, thinking this could not be a coincidence.  A few weeks ago a similar situation had happened where I arrived at the brides house in a torrential downpour. Minutes later the rain had stopped and within an hour, the sky had totally cleared. No matter how much it was raining in the morning, it has never rained once on me when the formals start! I may be jinxing myself by writing about it, but I needed to share this because the time of the rain actually stopping the last two instances is simply amazing. It was like the clouds opened up when my pelican case came out of the trunk!  Back at the studio, someone had asked Kevin (Boston Avenue”s sales and organizational guy) if I had a backup plan in case of rain. Kevin replied, “He does not need one, it does not rain on Pateras!
