A few years ago I really got into fitness. I loved everything about it and have even competed on a national stage. This requires countless hours at the gym and dedication to your intake of healthy food. Being a wedding photographer really tests your willpower on the “intake of healthy food”.  I work at some of the most exclusive and opulent venues in the Toronto Area. I get to experience a level of culinary delight on a weekly basis that most people hardly see in their lifetime. I am tempted with food that may as well be featured on the Food Network or in a high end cookbook at Williams Sonoma. In this blog post I am going to cover some of the best meals I have ever been served while working.  Just this past weekend I was working in Price Edward County at the Waupoos Winery. The chef was flown in from the U.S. and he has his own show on the American Food Network. I don”t even have to talk about the food here, just that last sentence alone tells you the caliber of meal that I was served. For a lot of the weddings I shoot, money is no object. With that kind of budget, the food is definitely world class.  This season, I had the pleasure of working at the Granite Club. I had never heard of the Granite Club before getting my notes for this wedding, but it is not a place I will soon forget. The three mushroom and chicken penne was the best pasta I have ever consumed… and consume is what I did! Also this season I had the pleasure of working at the Atlantis complex. I was caught totally off guard as I did not expect a gastronomic experience of this intensity. The Filet Mignon was cooked to the same level as a high end steakhouse and they were serving over 200 guests. It was impressive to say the least.  There have been other meals that are definitely worth a mention. The Copper Creek Golf Club served a platter of lamb chops that was so beautiful to look at, I actually felt bad eating it. Inn on the Twenty has impressed me both times I have worked there. The first time was a delicate white fish and a few weeks ago, I was served a delicious crusted chicken breast.  Now it is the time to reveal the best meal I have ever been served at work. It is not a place I would have even expected to be in the top twenty let alone head and shoulders above the rest. This is not only the best wedding food, this ranks up there as one of the best meals of my entire life. It was one of my first weddings with Boston Avenue and the venue was located in a Chinese complex in Markham. The name of the restaurant is Diamond Banquet Hall. It does not have to wow effect of Copper Creek Golf Club or The Atlantis Complex when you look at it, but what it lacks in looks it makes up tenfold when it comes to what is produced in the kitchen.  It was more than a 15 course meal including sea bass, lobster, Alaskan crab, roast pork, BBQ duck, shark fin soup and about ten other dishes, each were even better than the last. Every person got a small portion as a sampler and by the end of the anthology of food, you were so full that you almost did not want anymore… ALMOST!  The moral of the story is obviously don”t judge a book by its cover. You also now see why it is tough to be dedicated to fitness and also choose to be subjected to a menu like this twice a week! Now if you will excuse me, I need to go to the gym and work this past weekend”s food off…
