Well as I said, I will be writing about some of my favourite places on earth, so I may as well start with the most spectacular…  People always ask me what my favourite place is and they cannot even finish the question before I blurt out the answer. This place is so miraculous, so magical that it makes my second favourite place look like a garbage dump.  My earthly version of heaven is called Whitehaven Beach and it is located in the Whitsunday Islands in Queensland, Australia. People use the phrase “white sandy beach” very loosely when describing beautiful beaches. When you  stand and look out at this place, I assure you that you will only use the phrase for this particular beach from that moment on. It is so white that I call it the Kleenex beach when describing it. The sand consists of 98% pure silica and is so pure it was actually used in making the glass for the Hubble telescope.  As I was lead towards the water by my guide, I noticed that there was an eerie sound coming from the sand as it was crushed under my feet. The sand actually whistles when you walk on it!  I spent a few hours relaxing in a more private area of the beach, surrounded by angelfish and other aquatic life. I removed  my jellyfish suit for a little while to enjoy the pristine water without the buffer, but this experience was to be short lived. My guide informed us that our sailboat would be departing shortly, so we had to head back to the other side of the island.  A few hours out of a lifetime are hardly ever as memorable as this, but it is great to know that there are things in the world that can leave an imprint on your soul and make you remember them with vivid detail for the rest of your life.
