After the feast of tropical fruits, I boarded my local transportation and was swept off to Nungwi beach. I have seen some of the world’s greatest beaches, but what I saw today surprised even me.  As the driver weaved through these narrow streets on the way to my beach bungalow, I was able to get a glimpse of the water. It was spectacular. Picture turquoise water that tapered into a deep blue in the distance. The sand was so fine and white that it made the Caribbean beaches I have visited look like a polluted harbour.  I quickly donned my bathing suit and ran over to the water. The mercury was peaking at nearly 40 degrees Celsius and I was craving a refreshing swim, but that would never come. As I entered the water, I realized that the cool refreshing swim I was anticipating turned out to be a warm bathtub and did little to lower my body temperature. This was by far the warmest water I have ever swam in. There are only two beaches I have ever been to that topped this one. Whitehaven Beach in Queensland, Australia and Phi Phi Lay in Phi Phi, Thailand.  As the sun got lower on the horizon, I was treated to a feast of the local catch and a sunset that would bring a tear to your eye.
